How Reserve voting works
Holders who lock into The Reserve can nudge one mining parameter each epoch. The block pot stays fixed. This page is a plain map — Continuum’s Vortex tab is where you act. Install Continuum 0.70 from the wallet hub, open Vortex, then The Reserve. Lock about π SHE for one vote. The node records the lock. Spendable in Continuum is still only opened coins with 9 confirmations.
Epochs, then enact
Time on the Reserve runs in epochs (4 days on this testnet; 400 days planned for mainnet). The first qualifying π lock opens the inaugural epoch — not genesis, and not an operator clock.
Through most of the epoch, locked holders can cast a vote. Near the end, new locks may still sit idle for interest, but vote changes stop. When the epoch closes, the tallied choice moves the live hashbonus (or a tie leaves it), then principal and earned interest become withdrawable.
Lock, then vote once
Open Continuum → Vortex → The Reserve. Lock SHE into your own portal. About π SHE (~3.14159265358) unlocks one vote for the current epoch.
Each portal votes once. After you seal, the wallet keeps your choice and the other options drop away. A second cast in the same epoch is rejected as already locked. Public tallies show three piles (raise / lower / leave) without naming who voted. Locking and voting each pay a small Flow levy quoted from mempool depth at that step; withdrawing principal is not levied.
One knob on the ballot
- Hashbonus unit — raise by one, lower by one, or leave it. That unit is the extra mint per proven floor share (base is 10−11 SHE). Plurality at epoch end enacts the move.
The Reserve oracle publishes an observed staking APR for the epoch. Nodes freeze it fail-closed for interest mint. That rate is attested input, not something the ballot invents in the wallet UI.
